All-new P50 multi risk environmentally friendly fire extinguisher

At Building and Construction Review, we are dedicated to showcasing companies who offer the highest quality services in their field and who have an acute focus on excellent customer service. This is why we are proud to feature Cherry Products Ltd for our BCR Recommends profile, for its manufacturing services in producing the highest quality materials handling equipment on the market.

Established in 1980, Cherry Products is a British company that has sustained its industry leading position within the marketplace by suppling brands such as JCB, Claas, New Holland and the wider dealer network and farmers. Year on year, Cherry Products continue to strive for further excellence in service and build quality with its existing range of products. Its personal service and ability to keep pace with the constantly changing requirements and developments in agriculture and its allied industries, leave any rival competitor falling short.

Cherry Products is centred on catering for farmer’s needs, committed to keeping the design simple and supplies products that retain a longer life with less down time providing the ultimate benefit to the customer. The company has been manufacturing agricultural material handling equipment for over 40 years and has gained a reputable market leading position within the agricultural community. Highly respected in its field, Cherry Products has developed firm links within this community and is now the preferred UK attachment and demonstration supplier for many of the industry’s leading names. The new P50 AFFF Composite Fire Extinguisher complete with a full management software program is one notable product supplied by Cherry Products. A product of innovation, the new P50 AFFF Composite Fire Extinguisher is British made using state-of-the-art clean manufacturing processes and can save a client on average 47% cost saving over a 10-year period. P50 extinguishers employ technology pioneered by the motor racing, defence, aircraft and aerospace industries.

“All P50 extinguishers meet the highest legal and safety standards and are fully compliant with British standard, EN3, BSI. They are also CE marked and endorsed by Apragaz, certifying them to be used on electrical fires up to 1000 volts at one metre, liquids and combustible materials. In most situations current inventory can be reduced when replaced with P50 extinguishers, eliminating the need for two types of extinguishers especially inside buildings.” Stated Ian Fenton, Sales Manager.

Providing a strong environmentally friendly presence in comparison to standard extinguishers, Ian explains, “The foam (AFFF) is watercourse safe and biodegradable which with the 20-year life cycle and 100% recyclability, means it is a green option compared to traditional equipment. After 10 years the extinguishers are required for a return to base service before being reallocated back out into industry for another 10 years (with another 10-year guarantee), this is charged at half the price of a new unit.”

As well as the extinguisher itself, an online management program is available to allow the client to keep records. “The program has large capabilities and can handle multiple sites, users, even vehicles can be registered with drivers. There are also helpful training tutorials for servicing and using the management program.” Said Ian.

Some major companies that are in the process of rolling out the extinguishers are seven NHS trusts including St Guy’s and St Thomas London, Heathrow Airport, Thames Valley Police, Pepsi Co, Walkers, B&Q, Marston Brewery and many more. The aim for the future is to recruit more household named businesses to propel the product to reach more potential clients as it looks for further expansion into the fire extinguisher market.

Cherry Products partnered with Eastern Attachments, then Eastern Extinguishers to combine and strengthen its UK manufacturing and distribution network. Since rolling out the extinguisher in its specialist area, it has also opened the door to many other industries like forestry, building, manufacturing and retail.

With the challenges of COVID-19 proving difficult for Cherry Products, the ongoing issue of not being able to meet people face to face or initiate site visits for product demonstration is still ongoing. The product is not one that has the adverse effects of being marketed digitally, however, as time goes on the bigger named brands Cherry Products is acquiring will allow their brand reputation and product portfolio to, in essence, sell itself. The bonus effect of industry competition is allowing Cherry Products to promote its products and services on a global scale despite coming off the back of a global pandemic. This shows how remarkably adverse and innovative the company is and what effect its products are making on the market.

Being able to attend events to showcase its products and services is of vital importance in the coming months for Cherry Products. The company will be attending two events, held at the NEC in Birmingham, on the following dates: The Farm Business Innovation Show on the 10th-11th of November and in 2022, The LAMMA Show on the 11th-12th of January.
